Ruter tickets in Oslo: prices, zones and how to buy (2026)
Ruter runs public transport in Oslo and Akershus. One ticket works on all Ruter buses, trams, metro (T-bane) and boats, and on Vy trains within Oslo and Akershus.
Prices in Oslo (Zone 1), checked October 2026
| Ticket | Adult | Senior (67+) | Child (6–17) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single | NOK 46 | NOK 23 | NOK 19 |
| 30-day | NOK 655 | NOK 328 | NOK 238 |
| 365-day | NOK 7,550 | NOK 3,775 | – |
- Students: the 30-day ticket is NOK 393 in Zone 1 (40% off the adult price). The discount applies to the 30-day ticket only, for full-time students under 30 with a Norwegian student ID.
- Youth (18–19): 30-day NOK 238.
- Children under 6 travel free.
- The 30-day price was cut from NOK 805 to NOK 655 on 3 May 2026. Ruter says a temporary state subsidy behind part of the cut runs until about April/May 2027. If it isn't extended, prices may partly go back up.
How tickets work
- Buy in the Ruter app or on a physical travel card. Tickets bought on board buses and boats cost a bit more.
- A single ticket for one zone is valid 60 minutes from activation, plus 30 minutes for each extra zone. You can change between services while it's valid.
- Rule of thumb from Ruter: a 24-hour ticket pays off if you travel more than three times in a day, and a 30-day ticket if you travel 30 times or more in a month.
- Fines for travelling without a valid ticket: NOK 1,250 if paid on the spot, NOK 1,530 by invoice.
- Ruter adjusts prices every year on the third Sunday of January.
Elsewhere in Norway use Entur or the local app (e.g. Skyss in Bergen). See getting around.
